I am often asked where an idea for a piece comes from. Images seem to simply come to me, a gift that I dare not examine too closely for fear that it might disappear. The real thought process for a piece does not begin until I am ready to construct it. I love the complicated process of figuring out how to make something.
Like many artists I have been creating things ever since I can remember out of whatever happened to be available. Metal is the material that I seem to be drawn to the most, though. I have always included stones in my work, drawn by their sparkle and color but they have never completely satisfied me. I wanted more. Then one day I was introduced to enameling - the art of fusing opaque and transparent glass to metal. >> |
